The first step when shopping for a home is getting pre-approval from a lender.  This is a key piece of information that will let you know; how much you can borrow, the type of loan you qualify for, and the price of a home your budget can comfortably afford.  Please note that at this time, the Chicago Housing Trust program only allows homes to be purchased with a conventional loan (unless purchased completely with cash). When purchasing a home through the Chicago Housing Trust program, the buyer(s) is/are required to attend homebuyer training sessions. This is put in place to give homebuyers a better understanding of the program, what to expect when purchasing a home, and financial awareness.

Orientation/Training provided by Chicago Housing Trust staff.  Sessions are held twice per month.  Please contact Jennie Fronczak at [email protected].

*Please note that any unit sold under the Chicago Housing Trust program that includes monthly HOA fees will require you to also attend the Condominium training that immediately follows the Chicago Housing Trust orientation session and is provided by Rogers Park Community Development Corp. d/b/a Northside Community Resources CDC.

Housing Counseling Training/Session by a HUD approved agency.  Some agencies that provide counseling free of charge are:
